don't forget the h

Today I went to the Glenbow Museum to see the exhibit by Edward Burtynsky. He takes images (mostly) of industrial-type areas (quarries, landfills, abandoned items, etc.). I am not really familiar with all of his work by any means and what they had in the exhibit, I did like. It made me think though. Ultimately, anyone can take images of pretty much anything & be successful. Who says that photographing garbage can't be sellable? Who says that the idea you have in the back of your mind is not great? Who limits what we can & cannot do? Us or ourselves. At least, I can speak for myself there. I limit myself & I have no idea why. Perhaps thinking my ideas are not original enough or that someone is better at it than me. Well, that's just silly. I must at least give it a go to know what I am capable of accomplishing. That's much less limiting, I'd say.

Since I wanted to post about my experience at the Glenbow Museum and didn't have an image to add to this post, I figured it best to draw something!

My boyfriend is away right now & I have keys to his condo to check on it while he's away (and stay there if I feel so inclined). He has three small buddhas on his dresser & there is one of them that I have wanted to draw for quite awhile. Today I drew him. I'm sure each buddha signifies something but I have no idea what. I also have no idea where he got/bought these little guys from but they are really cute (and happy!!).

how does it seem?

I have mentioned over & over (& over) for easily months & months that nothing really inspires me. Now, some people in my life would beg to differ yet, that is how it has seemed to me for quite a long time.

Today, I spoke with my personal coach as we do every couple weeks & after our chat I was "inspired" to do this seeming. The seeming is: nothing inspires me. The same process was applied from the first time I took on a seeming. I didn't find this difficult to do at all. Perhaps it was due to the conversation I had before I put this together. I had been thinking about doing this collage for awhile but just hadn't gotten around to it (for no reason except being uninspired or lazy - depending on the day).

I am also reading an interesting book called "The Disappearance of the Universe" by Gary R. Renard which may in some ways have inspired this also. The book is a bit off the wall for some yet I find it very interesting. Thoughts I had as a youngster are brought up (not directly) so I find myself a bit thoughtful in general about life & how it appears.

Last night I was folding my towels & noticed that my nail polish totally matched one of my towels. Photo op! So this morning (I just finished) I took my small point & shoot camera S95 & took a few images of my nails with the bottle of nail polish on top of my towel. It really is cool how well they match!

This colour is by Nicōle (by OPI) & is called Virtuous Violet. I want the job that picks names for nail polish!!

drinkin'?

For the past three years a gang of us have gone to Winefest. We always said it was the best wine tasting event all year. This year I'm not so sure. They moved the venue to the Big Four building on the Stampede Grounds from the BMO Centre so basically, we were in a warehouse that was disguised as not quite being a warehouse. We may be drinking but we're not dumb. The lighting was crappy too. Tough to read the signage due to where they set up the lights. Ah, they're dumb!

In any case, we went to Ric's Grill on 8 Street SW after the event to have yet another drink (not necessarily needed but why not?!?)! I took the following images at that venue. The one of me & my guy alone I did not take. All the others I did - even if I was in the photo (self portraits are fun!).

It was still a riot! Can you tell??
